Bases neurofisiológicas y neuroanatómicas del habla
Parting from a description of the different parts (and their ways of functioning)involved in brain mechanisms, this article tries to defend the thesis that speech comprehension and production have to be considered as forming part of the whole complex brain system, where a series of highly personal and individual factors come to bear. On its basis we try to show that the acquisition of a foreign language, in the sense of automatization of the grammar system, needs a kind of exposure which activates a maximum of brain functions, including those related to motivation and emotions (the latter part of right hemisphere processes). In the final part we outline some theoretical and practical consequencies that derive from this for curriculum design and the teaching of modern languages.

Las escuelas de primeras letras y las cátedras de gramática del obispado de Cádiz en el siglo de las luces
This essay shows the network of primary schools for children and the so called "Cátedras de Gramática" for boys living in Cadiz's bishopric during the 18 th century. Although the Synodical Constitution's took into account elementary teaching at the parish churches, the main responsibility was carried out by the religious orders. Both the Jesuits and the Dominicans were the outstanding orders till 1767. The diocese is studied pointign out the religious orders - Franciscans, Augustinians, Mercedarians, etc.- that were partly dedicated to teaching, particularly the primary schools belonging to the Franciscans'hospice at the Isla de León. The enlightened reform was irrelevant except for the Royal School in Cadiz.

La comprensión de textos en la interacción profesor-alumno
As a part of a more extensive research about text learning and comprehension at school we study the role of the teacher as the origin of some strategies that the subjetcs (nine-year-children) obtain in summarizing an expositive text about animals. The results show that the kind of help the teacher offers -more centered in the details about the topics than in the macrostructure- is in relation with the representation the students build up from the text (topic + details). The results are according to the evolutive studies about the facts described.
